You can select from a predefined list of colors or you can select Custom. to color the tab for that terminal session. You can right-click on a tab and select Color. If you'd like to set the tab title for that profile for every terminal instance, you can learn more in the Tab title tutorial. Clicking this option in the context menu will change your tab title into a text field, where you can then edit the title.
You can right click on a tab and select Rename Tab to rename a tab for that terminal session. Put settings here that you want to apply to all profiles.

Windows Terminal enables you to apply a setting to every profile without having to duplicate the setting for each profile entry. Specific distribution icons do not come shipped inside the terminal but can be downloaded and assigned using the terminal settings. But if you have a weekend spare and you want to dip your toe into another operating system, Linux is a great to try.You can change the icon of each WSL distribution if desired. However, note that the above steps involve much use of Command Prompt, something that you'll most likely have never used. If you're aware of Linux and you're keen on using it, then Windows 11 will grant that for you. We won't sugar-coat it this guide isn't for beginners.

You can then run the distribution in a window, complete with sound support, by typing kex -win -s and pressing Enter. Launch Kali, type sudo apt update and press Enter, and then type sudo apt install -y kali-win-kex before pressing Enter. If you opt to install Kali Linux instead, you have the ability to install the same apps and more, and you can also run Kali itself with a desktop of its own using Win-KeX. With Ubuntu, there's no option to easily install a desktop environment.
